All about me

My name is Ms. DeFranco and I am so excited to be back in 4th grade and have you in my class this year. Here is a little information about me. I am originally from upstate NY and grew up very close to the Canadian border. I started my career as an engineer, but after a few years I realized that my true calling was in education. In 1993 I returned to college to complete my masters in both elementary education and special education from the State University of New York in Potsdam. In 1997, I moved to North Carolina to begin my teaching career and have never looked back. I am nationally board certified and earned my certification as a reading specialist while working for Wake County Public Schools. My educational passion is in the area of literacy. I believe that my role as a teacher is to facilitate and to inspire learning through fun and laughter. When I'm not at school, I spend time with my family and friends. I have a teenage son and fur baby at home that keep me busy in my free time. I look forward to an exciting, fun-filled year of learning with you at Brassfield.
